On This Day In History: The First Porsche Was Completed

Screen Shot 2016-06-09 at 2.28.36 PM
On June 8, 1948, the very first Porsche was legally registered. Engineered by Ferdinand Porsche, the 356 went into production during the winter of 1947-48, and the aluminum prototype that was entirely hand-built was finished on June 8, 1948, exactly 68 years ago from today. The completely hand-built aluminum prototype labeled “No. 1″ became the first vehicle to bear the name of Porsche. It was built using modified Volkswagen components and featured a lightweight, hand-beaten aluminum body over a tubular steel chassis. Its initial design was seen as unfit for series production, meriting a more robust yet complex unibody redesign undertaken in 1948. Against all odds, however, the automaker crafted 52 of these rarified sports cars over the course of a year in a small garage in Gmund, Austria, before relocating to Stuttgart, Germany. By 1958, Porsche had built 10,000 of them. With a weight of just 1,290 pounds, contemporary accounts suggest the prototype’s top speed lay somewhere between 84 and 87 mph. Porsche went on to build 77,000 356 cars before transitioning to the iconic 911 sports car in 1964. Today, Porsche is one of the most prestigious car brands in the world and it all started with this car. Here at indiGO Auto Group we are proud to continually honor the heritage of Porsche. A Look At The Countach

Together with the Miura, the Countach represented the backbone of the Lamborghini legend. Once again the team, Marcello Gandini and Nuccio Bertone, put their signature on a unique line that remains unchanged today: its 12 cylinders mounted lengthwise and the wedge-shaped body only 1.07 m tall with scissor doors, redefines the segment of sports cars, leaving enthusiasts speechless. The LP 400 of the first series is still in great demand today because in this version the clear language of the shapes without larger mudguards and rear spoilers is even more explicit. The motorcar is an extraordinary edition and is a grand way to celebrate Lamborghini’s 25 th anniversary. Here at indiGO Auto Group, we are pleased to represent such an exquisite brand and look forward to celebrating with Lamborghini for many years to come.   Interested in purchasing your very own, custom designed Lamborghini? Audi’s Heartwarming Super Bowl Commercial

Audi made an appearance during the big game this year with their 60-second commercial titled “Daughter” which showed viewers an emotional tale of a father and daughter’s life together in what it held. In the creation of this commercial, Audi wished to execute a message of “equal pay for equal work,” and that “progress is for everyone,” and they did just that. For nearly a decade, Audi of America has led with compelling stories on game day.  From shooting for the moon in 2016 with “The Commander" to playing off of the vampire craze in 2013.  Compelling creative combined with actions to engage the socially active audience have been signatures to the brand's advertisements. The entire team at Audi is forward thinking and progressive—from their marketing department to the experts who design each vehicle.  Audi continues to bring it on with every car and (every commercial) they create.   Interested in purchasing your very own 2017 Audi?
