The New Fully Electric Bentley is So Powerful You Might Need to Adjust the Settings

The future of Bentley is electric. And powerful.

Perhaps too powerful for some drivers with a weak stomach.

The British luxury automaker has grabbed headlines with its stated intention of going “fully electric” by the year 2030.

The future of Bentley is electric. And powerful.
The future of Bentley is electric. And powerful.

In fact, Bentley CEO Adrian Hallmark says the marquee’s first EV, simply called the Bentley EV, could churn out as much as 1,400 horsepower when it hits showrooms in 2025.

That means near-effortless acceleration and a zero to 60 of just 1.5 seconds.

"If we're 650 hp now with GT Speed, we will be double that with the BEV,” Hallmark told Automotive News Europe. "But from a zero to 60 mph point of view, there are diminishing returns. The problem is, it's uncomfortable. And then it just becomes (nauseating)."

To mitigate that fact, drivers of the Bentley EV will be able to select a slower acceleration speed if such a lightning quick acceleration makes them feel sick to their stomach.

"You can have zero to 60 mph in 2.7 seconds. (For weaker stomachs). Or it can be switched to 1.5 seconds,” Hallmark explained.

The quiet, silky smooth power of the Bentley 12-cylinder engine will be replaced by an even smoother - and quieter - electric motor. The new Bentley will ride atop a PPE platform. That's the same one that sits beneath the Audi Q6 E-Tron and Porsche Macan EV.

Bentley’s "Beyond100" strategy has the automaker committing to becoming a global pioneer in the sustainable auto industry. And it means becoming fully carbon-neutral, from the Bentley factory to the cars it creates – all by 2030.

Bentley’s suppliers are also expected to meet minimum sustainability standards – “and by 2025, our entire global retailer network will be carbon neutral too,” the company said in a recent statement.

Moreover, the strategy has accelerated in recent months with the announcement of the ‘Five-in-Five’ plan, which will envisions and plans out five all-electric Bentley vehicles launched – one each year from 2025 onward – at which point the entire Bentley product range will be electric

A growing number of vehicles across Bentley’s  Flying Spur and Bentayga ranges are already available with hybrid powertrains.

And they are being joined by the Bentayga EWB, Continental GT and GTC.

In terms of styling of the new EV, little is known.

"What we will not do is try and make them look like electric cars," Hallmark told the media recently.

Two years ago, Bentley previewed its fully electric future with the EXP 100 GT, a concept model whose sleek shape and scissor-like doors caused a stir.

The iconic British luxury automaker is investing $3.4 billion over the coming decade to build electric vehicles at its facility in Crewe, United Kingdom.

Before the arrival of its first EV, the brand intends to offer hybrid versions of every model in its lineup.

The luxury automaker plans to exclusively offer electrified models, including all-electric and plug-in hybrids, beginning in 2026.

It’s the most advanced Flying Spur ever built thanks to the latest technology that brings three driving modes via its combined gasoline-powered engine and electric power.

At your fingertips: EV Drive mode allows you to make short journeys on electric power alone. Hybrid mode enables the car to toggle between the petrol engine and electric power, to make your journey as simple as possible. The third option is Hold mode, where your car relies mainly on its petrol engine with some electric propulsion, balanced by regenerative braking to recoup battery power. The Flying Spur Hybrid is the second Bentley hybrid to be launched.

With a 2.9 liter twin-turbocharged petrol engine and a powerful 100kW electric motor, the Flying Spur Hybrid offers effortless power as you surge forward into your day. Thanks to the additional torque delivered by the electric motor, you can get from zero to 60 in just 4.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 177 mph. And when you are in electric mode, traveling within the lap of luxury is a near silent experience, making this the perfect car for quiet conversation or even reading a book while someone else does the driving.

Bentley Rancho Mirage Celebrates Desert Fun & Leisure with its Colors of Inspiration Collection.

The Coachella Valley has long been the perfect sun-drenched weekend getaway for those escaping the smog of Los Angeles or the cold of Northern cities. The Colors of Inspiration Collection: A New Era of Bentley. To celebrate everything bright, happy, and fun about visiting the desert - from its hotels and swimming pools to its golf courses and blue sky - Desert European Motorcars has created the Colors of Inspiration collection for Bentley Rancho Mirage. Each one of these very special Bentleys in the Colors of Inspiration Collection has gorgeous exterior paint colors matched with exciting fun and leisure-inspired pinstriping in bright hues such as “Hyperactive” orange, “Vibrant” Yellow, “Turquoise” Blue, and “Bespoke” White. The bright color accents lend a dramatic effect set against more classic exterior paint colors such as Arctic White, Satin Anthracite Grey, Beluga Black, and Cambrian Grey. “The idea was to try to build some cool cars with accent colors that accentuate the younger hip and cool generation that now comes to Coachella and Palm Springs,” explains Jason Cammisa, campus director at Desert European Motorcars, which oversees nine luxury car dealerships in Rancho Mirage that are part of Indigo Auto Group. “We wanted to do a contemporary twist with young fun colors accenting what people feel when they come to the Coachella Valley. They are happy, young, and vibrant hues.” The Colors of Inspiration Collection Catapults Bentley Into the Future of The Automotive World. Cammisa himself worked with Bentley Mulliner to commission the exclusive Colors of Inspiration Bentleys in a dazzling array of finishes, materials, and exclusive features. Inside they are filled with a dizzying portfolio of finishes, materials, and features and all the luxury amenities you’d expect of a Bentley. The collection comprises a limited edition of three Bentley models – the Continental, Flying Spur, and Bentayga - in colors and finishes that recall the “fun and happy” vibe of the desert. The Highlighter Yellow trim, for instance, seems to harken back to 1980s spring break in Palm Springs, while the Tiffany Blue trim lends a more classic Hollywood/mid-century modern vibe. Check out: The Bentley Bentayga Hybrid SUV is part of a Lineup that Will be Fully Hybridized by 2025 and Fully Electric Palm Springs and the greater Coachella Valley have always been a place of leisure starting as far back as the 1930s when Hollywood stars began flocking to the desert paradise for quick weekend getaways from movie sets. Bentley: Luxury and Power Driven, Since then, the area has continued to attract film industry types, presidents, and captains of industry and others from all over the world who are drawn to the sunshine, clean air, world-class golf courses, and laid-back poolside lifestyle. “The idea with Colors of Inspiration Collection was to try and build some cool cars with accent colors that reflect the younger generation that is coming here now,” Cammisa says. Three models are offered in four color combinations for both the Bentley eight-cylinder engine model and the12-cylinder engine model, he noted. “They are in essence one of a kind because you are never going to see more than one of these exact cars. So if someone wants the black one with bespoke white trim, then only one buyer gets the eight-cylinder and one buyer gets the 12 cylinder.” The models have already started arriving at Bentley Rancho Mirage. The brightly colored pinstriping will be shown as an accent on the carbon body exterior of the car as well as on the stitching throughout the interior. “We came up with the accent colors by looking at the spectrum of the rainbow that is the ‘hot’ colors and ended up choosing highlighter yellow, cool orange, and tiffany blue,” Cammisa explains. “I think with Bentley specifically - and with these kinds of spec builds - you can attract anyone from their 20s to their 80s. The Colors of Inspiration Models are Fresh and Unique from Any Other Car and Bentley. “They are fresh and unique enough to where they stand apart from other cars and other Bentleys but they are not too in your face crazy while being drive-able and fun.” “And they will be arriving just in time for Coachella.” The Colors of Inspiration collection demonstrates what can be achieved through the Mulliner personal commissioning process, where the customer, retailer, and Mulliner’s design team collaborate to create truly unique cars. Mulliner’s association with Bentley, in fact, stretches back to the earliest days of the company. Colors of Inspiration Collection was Great Success Thanks to Mulliner's Key Role. Now Bentley’s known as an in-house personal commission division, Mulliner plays a key role in defining the company’s future design DNA, as demonstrated to stunning effect by the extraordinary new Batur coupé. From special features and finishes to unique and limited-edition coach-built vehicles, the Mulliner name continues to represent the ultimate in Bentley design and craftsmanship. Bentley customers are showing an increasing appreciation of the individuality that a Mulliner feature can bring to their chosen automobile. In recent years the percentage of Bentleys with specific Mulliner features has continued to grow. The demand for Mulliner special paint finishes has more than doubled; and the number of Mulliner personal commissions, bringing an individual vision to life in the Mulliner atelier, has tripled. Regional teams are also taking advantage of the unique ability to curate bespoke collections, specific to their own customers' interests and passions. Inspired by the location. Created by Bentley. Call it Kardashian Gray: The Reality Star Shells Out $100,000 to Paint Cars to Match Her Mansion

It might have to be re-named Kardashian Gray. The paint color Kim Kardashian recently chose for her luxury cars is causing a giant stir in pop culture media. That's because she shelled out roughly $100,000 to paint three of her luxury cars – including a Lamborghini and a Rolls-Royce - a hue called “ghost gray” so the vehicles would match her mansion. The Skims founder hired an outfit called Platinum Motorsports in Los Angeles to carry out the work, sources told the media. The so-called “ghost gray” color is said to be a “very specific Rolls-Royce gray.” And it wasn’t easy: Each car took about a month to complete due to the fact that each of the vehicles had to be taken dis-assembled in order to be sprayed. more Among the three cars Kardashian had painted: a Lamborghini Urus and a Rolls-Royce Ghost. Kim’s budget may be anything but austere but her aesthetic is quite clean. She loves to design her homes in neutral tones and keep in the interiors modern and simple. And now her cars match her abode! In a new video for Vogue, the reality star gave a tour of clean-lined mega-home and also gave viewers a look at her newly painted vehicles. During the interview, she said, “I've always been a car girl, I love cars, and I really wanted something different. I wanted my cars to blend in with my house which is grey. So I did all grey cars, instead of my typical matte silver, which I used to do. I picked out my Lamborghini Urus with a kit on the front, Rolls-Royce Ghost with a crystal lady….I love everything about it.” The Lamborghini, apparently, was the hardest to complete due to the intricate body kit on the front of the car. Interested in staying on top of the color trends for luxury cars? Here’s some info that might help you make that important decision for your car's exterior: Car & Driver is reporting that according to research by PPG, Kardashian was right on trend because grayscale shades – ranging from white to black - make up 3/4ths of paint colors on vehicles sold in the United States. Furthermore, blue, the next most popular color, took up about 9 percent of market share. But you might notice that today's automotive advertising is filled with brighter colors, a trend that has been making gains the past few years. You might have admired the Audi Q8's Dragon Orange Metallic. BMW’s compact M cars might catch your eye in Sao Paulo Yellow. Lamborghini, of course, will allow you to customize any portion of their Huracán or Aventador with just about any color you choose. Or maybe an even rarer color is your thing. In fact, just about any color is possible thanks to Porsche’s Paint to Sample program. It will cost you thousands of dollars but you can choose from a catalog of old colors and apply any of them to your new Porsche. Even better: If you can’t find that exact hue, the people at Porsche will create a color custom. And it will cost you twice as much. But it can be done! For that unusual buyer, Aston Martin and McLaren offer a wide selection of bold paint schemes, including bright lime yellow hues. Need a custom car color that's even more on the wild side? Car & Driver points to the bronzy palette of colors available for the McLaren 765LT. If you’re drawn to warmth you can choose Papaya Spark, which will attract eyeballs wherever you go. When it comes to stately elegance nothing beats a Bentley and with each passing year the available color schemes are becoming less staid. Think “light-blue Jetstream II Metallic” paint color for your exterior. You will create a buzz where every you go without sacrificing one ounce of luxury.

Honorable mentions: BMW 7 Series This vehicle may be known for looking gorgeous and turning heads - but the interior is where it's all happening for you and your passengers. It's covered in high-end finishes, leather, and other materials that will make you feel like you've fallen into the lap of luxury. Audi A8 L The footrests are simply to die for and you also get reading lights that each come with their own dimmer. For starters the rear seat headrest pillows are uber soft and supple, not to mention supportive to the neck. If that's not enough there's available massage seats for every seat. You and your passengers enjoy reclining rear seats, massagers (of course!), and access to a touchscreen with climate controls and any media, games, internet access you might desire. Rolls-Royce Cullinan This Rolls-Royce ultra-luxury SUV shares many of the features of the Phantom. It also includes a Viewing Suite that is automatically deployed at the touch of a button. That means that two rear-facing, tastefully contemporary leather chairs, and a cocktail table emerge as if from a cloud to help you take in the views as you enjoy some champagne and caviar.
