The Future is Here! EV Stations Approved Nationwide

Don’t be surprised if you see electric vehicle charging stations popping up along the highways in your hometown. All 50 states have now received final federal approval to begin construction on the first-ever nationwide network of electric vehicle charging stations. Under the plan, an EV charging station will be erected roughly every 50 miles along interstate highways. It’s all part of the Biden administration’s plan to inspire car buyers to go electric in the next decade. The U.S. Department of Transportation ( DOT) announced that it has approved EV charger plans from a remaining list of 17 states. Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Have Been Approved Nationwide. Here is Everything You Should Know . That fact triggered the release of $1.5 billion in federal funds to all jurisdictions across the nation. That’s a whopping $5 billion over five years to install (or upgrade) EV chargers along 75,000 miles of highway from the East Coast to the West Coast. The goal is to have 500,000 EV chargers nationwide. Plans for the other 33 states and the District of Columbia had already been approved. That means that by the end of this year you could start noticing the expansions and upgrades to existing highway electric vehicle charging stations in places like Texas, California, and Missouri, just to name a few states. If You're an EV Owner, Charging Your Car is About to Become Easier Than Ever. Many of these states already have at least four fast-charger ports that allow electric vehicles to fully recharge in about an hour. “America led the original automotive revolution in the last century, and … we’re poised to lead in the 21st century with electric vehicles,” said Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. He said the plans will “help ensure that Americans in every part of the country – from the largest cities to the most rural communities – can be positioned to unlock the savings and benefits of electric vehicles.” Check out: Expect Fully Luxury Electric Vehicles by 2030 from these Car Brands All of this means that construction of new electric vehicle charging stations could begin by spring of 2023. Expect to See More EV Charging Locations As Soon As 2023. Approval of charging stations is a big step toward widespread acceptance and use of electric vehicles among consumers. President Joe Biden has set a goal that 50 percent of new U.S. car sales to be electric by 2030. And he’s also touting a fresh round of  tax credits next year of up to $7,500 in order to make electric vehicles accessible to every U.S. citizen. Texas, Florida, and California have said their grids should be able to handle the increased capacity of a million or more EVs. Other states are still working on their own plans. Most of the major car companies have said they are moving toward an all-electric future. Thanks to better batteries EVs – especially luxury EVs - have a bigger range than ever before. EVs are The Future Now More Than Ever as Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Have Been Approved Nationwide. One good reason to buy an EV is future value calculation. That calculation is moving decidedly in favor of luxury EVs, especially as demand for gasoline-powered vehicles shrinks, according to Bloomberg media. The media outlet pointed out that car manufacturers have spent the past year or two announcing plans for electric vehicle models and production facilities. So, is this the time to go with an EV? Here are some reasons you may want to consider. Price. Owning An EV Comes With its Perks. Why Not Take Advantage of That? Car manufacturers are launching their higher-end models first, so the selection is better at the top end and prices are surprisingly reasonable, according to media reports. Luxury manufacturers have received the message from investors that they'll be rewarded for hastening the transition to electric vehicles, while profits from gasoline-powered vehicles will serve mostly to fund those types of investments. Tax incentives. Benefit From Everything An EV Has To Offer. Become An Owner of An Electric Vehicle Today. We already mentioned the new round of  incentives of $7,500 a vehicle or more.  This is more than enough reason for many buyers to act now. Who knows how long it will last? To sum it up, a combination of increased range, lower prices, incentives, and more charging make now a great time to start considering buying an EV. There's no better time to buy an EV than now that electric vehicle charging stations have been approved nationwide. Check out our latest EV inventory below. Electric vehicle inventory

Audi lighting technology

Audi Lighting Sets the Standard for the Auto Industry. And Now it's About to Get Even Better.

Audi lighting technology has always been an industry leader when it comes to car lighting systems. And now, Audi lighting technology is setting a new standard for luxury automotive technology. Audi laser lights more than double the range of your car’s high beams to nearly 2,000 feet, allowing you to see much further up the road and more clearly even in bad weather. Audi Lightning: Innovation. Luxury. Quality. So how does Audi laser lighting work, exactly? A small laser module in each headlight generates a light cone that extends several hundred meters as a spotlight. To get into even more detail... That monochromatic and coherent blue laser beam has a wavelength of 450 nanometers. A phosphor converter transforms it into white light suitable for roadway use with a color temperature of 5,500 Kelvin – ideal conditions for the human eye. Audi lighting technology sets the standard for the auto industry with pure innovative. Translated, that means you, the driver, enjoy greater contrast and visibility and your eyes will tire less quickly. The laser spot, which is active at speeds of 43.5 mph and higher, also offers significant visibility and safety advantages. For instance, the laser spot dims automatically if the camera mounted on the windshield detects other cars within its range. Audi was the first carmaker to use laser lights on a production car, with the limited-run Audi R8 LMX a few years ago. Now, this advanced Audi lighting technology is available on the Audi e-tron GT. Get Your Hans on a Luxury e-tron GT for Audi's Ultimate Lighting Technology. Check out: ‘Best of’ Cars to Buy Arriving in 2022 Unlike traditional headlights, Audi’s laser lights use a laser that shines its beam through a phosphor converter. That creates a light at 5,500 kelvin, which is a very white, almost blue-ish white light. More importantly, it can shine its beam up to 1,968 feet! For reference, a quarter-mile is about 1,320 feet. Not ready to invest in an Audi with laser lights? Audi’s other lighting options are also great. Let’s take a look. Digital matrix LED headlights Audi's Digital Matrix LED Headlights Have Created a New Meaning For Automotive Technology. Audi’s digital matrix LED headlights are cutting edge. These lights, which are broken down into minute pixels, can illuminate the road in high resolution. According to Audi, the design is based on a technology abbreviated as DMD (digital micro-mirror device) and is also used in many video projectors. At the center of the technology is a small chip containing one million micro-mirrors, each of whose edge length measures just a few hundredths of a millimeter. With the help of electrostatic fields, each individual micro-mirror can be tilted up to 5,000 times per second. Depending on the setting, the LED light is either directed via the lenses onto the road or is absorbed in order to mask out areas of the light beam. LED headlights Drive in Luxury and Comfort with Audi's LED Headlights. Audi's LED headlights are nothing to sniff at. Along with their high level of efficiency, LED headlights offer major benefits when it comes to safety and comfort. With a color temperature of around 5,500 Kelvin, their light resembles daylight and is easy on the eyes in terms of not causing fatigue. Audi says its LED headlights also offer a longer visual range than xenon headlights. In fog and rain, they cause the driver less glare. The LEDs are maintenance-free and designed to last the life of the car. This Audi lighting technology gives Audi models a distinctive look and strong accents with their innovative daytime and nighttime designs. (HD) Matrix LED headlights Get the Ultimate Driving Experience with the (HD) Matrix LED Headlights. According to Audi, Matrix LED headlights produce a high beam with tiny light-emitting diodes that are bundled in common reflectors or lenses, depending on the model. Due to their intelligent function, they illuminate the road superbly without blinding other drivers. When the light switch is set to “automatic” and the high beams are on, the system is switched on outside of urban areas at speeds of 18.6 mph and above. As soon as the camera on the windshield detects other vehicles or city limits, the controller switches off individual LEDs or dims them in 64 stages, creating several million possible light patterns. The Matrix LED light then masks out other vehicles while continuing to fully illuminate the zones between and adjacent to them. OLED rear lights Achieve a New Level of Homogeneity and Dimming with OLED Technology. In some of its models, Audi lighting technology uses rear lights with something called OLED technology (OLED: organic light-emitting diode). This is how they work according to Audi: In each unit, two electrodes – at least one of which is transparent – incorporate numerous extremely thin layers of organic semiconductor materials. A low DC voltage between 3 and 4 volts causes these layers, which are 200 times thinner than a human hair, to illuminate. Unlike point light sources such as LEDs, OLEDs are surface light sources. Their light achieves a new level of homogeneity, and dimming is continuously variable. There are no harsh shadows and no reflectors, light guides, or various optical parts found in other systems. This makes the OLED units efficient, lightweight, and perfectly homogeneous. Xenon headlights When You Choose Audi You Choose Innovation. Get Your Hands on the Xenon Headlights. Xenon headlights are also known as gas discharge lamps. That's because two tungsten electrodes are fused into a thick-walled quartz glass bulb that is filled with xenon gas, also known as the burner. A concentrated arc of light is then produced between them. The xenon gas itself lights in more of a violet hue, but metallic salts contained in the glass bulb reduce its color temperature to 4,200 Kelvin. Xenon headlights deliver a much brighter light and achieve better illumination of the roadway than halogen lights with incandescent bulbs. Their energy consumption – including the energy consumed by the ballast unit – is around 20 percent lower, and their life is much longer. Check out our latest models! Audi inventory

Audi e-tron is at the Front of the Pack When it Comes to Electric Luxury Cars

The latest Audi e-tron hit American showrooms this past summer. Within the flood of fully electric luxury cars entering the market, the Audi e-tron proved to be a standout. Yes, many luxury electric cars have convenient charging, decent battery capacity, and impressive power trains. So it’s the car itself that has to really stand out in order to be the best. And the e-tron is that car. Experience Audi Like Never Before With the Audi e-tron. Available in two different models, it’s a five-seat SUV with impressive performance, great handling, and a peerless all-wheel-drive. Audi says the manufacturer will become 100 percent carbon-neutral by the year 2050 - so the German automaker has a lot riding on the E-tron. E-tron: Pure Luxury and Innovation. You may also like: The Entire Audi Lineup is Getting Dramatic Updates for 2023 Want to go even further? The National Insurance Crime Bureau has created a layered approach to protecting your car in four areas: Common sense Visible and audible devices Immobilizing devices Tracking devices According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau you should look at: 1. Common sense. You wouldn’t believe the number of cars that are stolen each year simply because someone left the keys in the ignition with the doors unlocked. It still happens in 2022! So, always remove your keys from the ignition and lock those doors. Did you know that in some places it’s actually illegal to leave a vehicle unattended with the keys in the ignition. 2. Don’t leave keys ANYWHERE in the car or even hide them on the outside. Thieves can and will find them. 3.  Always park in well-lit streets and parking lots. You can make your car even more secure by backing your car into a parking space or driveway to make it more visible to passersby and harder for the thief to work under the hood without being spotted by law-abiding citizens. Other anti-car theft quick tips: Remember to roll up your windows completely. Avoid leaving your car in parking lots for longer than necessary. Keep your valuable out of site. That means cell phones, purses and wallets. In certain cities, a steering wheel lock is a good idea and will indeed deter thieves. Last, and maybe most importantly, if you see a thief making his way into your car, dial 9-1-1 but don’t approach the criminal. Safety comes first. Always. Finally, you might also consider investing in an immobilizing devices. These devices act by shutting off your car’s electrical or fuel supply. If the criminal can’t actually drive a way with the car there’s going to be no car theft. You can also buy a tracking device for your vehicle that allows police to track down your car and recover it quickly. Don’t try to do this yourself. California electric car law 2035

California: All Car Sales Must Be EVs by the Year 2035

The state of California has announced an aggressive plan for sales of electric car sales to triple in the next four years. The groundbreaking plan calls for 35 percent of all new car purchases be those of electrical vehicles in the next few years – and 100 percent by 2035. It’s all part of the Golden State’s goal to phase out the sale of cars with gas engines by the middle of the coming decade. Here are some quick facts you need to know about the California EV proposal: California Electric Cars: BMW i4 All-Electric Gran Coupe more • The California Air Resources Board proposal would mean that 100 percent of all new car sales in the state are of EVs by the year 2035. • The California plan is significant due to the fact that about 11 percent of all new passenger car sales nationally happen in that state – giving it a big influence over the national auto market. • The plan only affects new car sales -Californians would still be allowed to drive gas-powered cars and sell used ones. • It requires a big increase in charging stations - California has set a goal of having 250,000 charging stations set up by 2025. (Right now there are fewer than 80,000 public charging stations in California). California: All Car Sales Must Be EVs by the Year 2035: Porsche Taycan Check out our latest EV car inventory here. The Biden administration recently restored California’s power to set its own vehicle emissions standards under the Clean Air Act and the federal government has committed $5 billion to build more charging stations throughout the United States. Automobiles contribute about a quarter of California’s total greenhouse gas emissions, making cars the largest single source of emissions. The EV program is just one of the state’s several efforts to massively reduce carbon emissions in the coming years. The program is designed to reduce emissions by nearly 384 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent between 2026 and 2040. That adds up to a little less than all emissions across California’s economy in a single year. California’s rules would require 35 percent of new car sales for model year 2026 to be zero-emission vehicles. California Electric Car Law 2035 That means: battery or hydrogen-powered, or plug-in electric hybrids. It’s a sharp increase from 2021, when just 12 percent of all cars sold in the state were zero-emission, according to the state board. Buy a Porsche Taycan online through indiGO Direct. About 1 million of the 26 million cars currently on California roads are zero-emission. Moreover, the coming regulations would also require electric cars to achieve at least 150 miles per charge, an increase from 50 miles. Most luxury EVs already far exceed that. The rules would also establish an eight-year/100,000-mile battery warranty. Under the new rules all carmakers that sell in California would be required to hit the 35 percent sales mark for EVs. California: All Car Sales Must Be EVs : Porsche Taycan California is the first state in the union to mandate the phasing out of all gasoline-powered vehicles –the beginning of the end for combustion engines in the highly populated state. Many luxury car manufacturers have already announced plans to take their fleets fully electric in the next ten years. Audi, for instance, has announced it will end development of new internal combustion engine models by the end of 2026 and focus solely on full-electric from thereon. After 2026, the automaker will develop only battery-powered models. Take, for instance, the A3 and A4 models. They will not have combustion-engine successors but will be replaced by the battery-powered A3 e-tron and A4 e-tron. California EV Cars: Audi e-Tron The electric evolution of Audi's A5 and A6 models will follow a similar timetable. And the last internal combustion engine model built by Audi will likely be the Q8, which will launch in 2026 alongside an electric variant, the Q8 e-tron.

Chrome car wrapping making a comeback

There's No Accounting for Taste: Is Chrome Car Wrapping Making a Comeback?

Chrome car wrapping may have peaked in the early 2,000s but when you scroll through the internet you might experience a nagging sense that it’s poised for a comeback. Nothing about chrome car wrapping is understated. And it may even be considered bad taste. But it’s still happening, even today. And if you long for that metallic shine and perhaps a blingy personalized color, chrome wrapping may be exactly what you are craving. Just don’t ask your dealership to do it. It’s not an actual thing among auto manufacturers. And one downside is that you might be pulled over by the cops more frequently due to its reflectivity. So what, exactly is a chrome car wrap? more A chrome wrap is actually a kind of vinyl wrap that gives your car’s exterior a glossy, reflective, and yes, metallic, look, kind of like you dipped your entire car in hot metal. Think Donald Trump’s penthouse interior with more color choices than gold. Chrome car wraps are thin but generally considered durable (especially by those who install them) and there are currently four top brands to choose from: Avery, Oracle, 3M, Rwraps, and WrapStyle. If you don’t find anything you like there, you can also opt for metalized and polyester films, according to the Topmarq blog. Such alternatives are not used as full car wraps. Instead, they can be employed for covering smaller parts of the car and creating special custom graphics that you choose. But let’s go back to chrome wraps, which allow you to choose from a seemingly endless rainbow of colors: Anything from the more “staid” black, gold and silver to flaming red or pink. (Who doesn’t love a metallic pink Land Rover? Or a glossy pink VW?) And of course, it’s going to cost you. For a sedan expect to pay up to $8,000. Larger cars like a Bentley or Rolls will run you $12,000 or more. So what are the pros and cons? Pros You will always make an entrance. There is nothing subtle about how your car will look once you chrome wrap it. In fact, everyone will stop and stare, gape-mouthed, as you drive by. It might help to prevent scratches. According to proponents, a wrap will actually protect your original paint job in the same way a high-quality synthetic wax does. (Not sure the folks at Rolls would agree with this but we’re just passing along some info from the pro-wrap world). So ostensibly you are preventing nicks and scratches from rock chips, branches, and debris. They can last several years. Drop a chrome wrap over that Bentley and you might not have to change it for five or six years. Imagine the impression you can make in that time frame! And, for better or worse, you will make an impression. The Cons It’s not cheap. As we already mentioned a glossy metallic wrap for your ride can set you back $6,000 to $8,000 or more depending on the size of the vehicle and the scope of the project. It’s difficult to maintain. The wrap may be susceptible to heat and cold so your car may have to be stored in a temperature-controlled environment, which can add extra cost. It’s a little tacky for most tastes. Despite the fact that you might think it looks cool, many others do not think a chrome wrap looks cool. In fact, you might be perceived as a bit out of touch if you drive around in a gold-plated car. We suggest sticking with the colors provided by your luxury car’s configurator or a tasteful tone available at your dealership. But there’s no accounting for taste…

2022 the yeard of the electric vehicle

2022 Has Been Called the Year of the Electric Vehicle - Here’s Why Right Now is the Perfect Time to Buy One

It’s been called the Year of the EV but is 2022 really the best time to buy an electric vehicle? Let’s take a look at the facts. With so many new luxury EVs and hybrids coming on the market, from sedans to SUVs this is a big year for plug-in fully electric vehicles. So why buy an electric vehicle? more For starters, they’re good for the environment. You want to help the planet. The good news is that if you drive an EV, unlike gas-powered cars, you are putting out zero emissions into the atmosphere. Those emissions are part of what contributes to climate change. So, it's a fact that EVs are responsible for less pollution overall than conventional gas-powered vehicles despite the fact that cumulative environmental impact will vary depending on the source of electricity, of course. Electric vehicles of today are super fast. That's because that electric motor puts out all of its available torque instantly - and continuously. Especially when it comes to luxury or sports EVs. Many luxury electric vehicles can now get you to 60 mph in as little as 3.0 seconds! (Or less if you are talking something like the Porsche Taycan). Additionally, performance can be better. The W battery pack is normally mounted beneath the passenger compartment so your EV has a lower center of gravity that contributes to quick cornering abilities you would only see in a sports car under most circumstances. Yes, upfront costs can be high compared to a car with a conventional gasoline-powered engine. But over time high-end EVs are easier on your wallet. Taken together, that means that a growing number of potential car buyers are weighing whether it's time to buy their first electric vehicle. Lower fuel costs are a big benefit. Charging an EV at home can work out to be much cheaper than paying for gas every week – especially as gas prices are going up over time in recent months. And, as an added benefit, EVs don’t need all the maintenance of gas-powered vehicles. In fact, they only require an estimated one-third of the maintenance. That means one-third of the cost! No fluid and filter changes or tune-ups. Nor do they need new spark plugs, hoses or belts, etc. You're only required to do things like rotate the tires and replace windshield wipers while checking brake pads - plus a few more routine service items. Additionally, there's still that one-time $7,500 federal tax credit for people buying electric vehicles. The Biden administration has proposed extending the credits for all automakers and even increasing them depending on where a vehicle is built and whether union labor is involved. Several states, including California, offer incentives for EV buyers and those who lease an EV. The California Clear Fuel Reward Gives you Yet Another Incentive to Buy Electric in 2022 Did you know you can save big on your EV purchase when you buy an eligible EV? And you may be able to combine that with existing incentives announced in the past several years. The California Clean Fuel Reward (CCFR) is now available to anyone who buys or leases a new electric vehicle with a battery capacity greater than 5 kWh. While there are no income or location restrictions within California, you have to register your electric car in California and you must live there. The goal of the California Clean Fuel Reward is to put more electric vehicles on the streets for a carbon-neutral future. Carbon neutrality means having a balance between emitting carbon and absorbing carbon from the atmosphere. It is essential to reduce carbon emissions in order to reach a state of climate neutrality. It’s easy to obtain the reward. When you buy or lease an EV at an enrolled retailer in California, the retailer will simply include the reward in the transaction at the point of sale. The customer does not need to provide any paperwork or fill out any forms. Additionally, Pacific Gas and Electric Company and other electric utilities have teamed up with the California Air Resources Board to offer the reward, which is even offered on a sliding scale depending on your car battery size. Discounts of up to $1,500 are offered on cars with larger batteries that carry a bigger charging capacity. And, the incentive is also available on leased electric vehicles. Only vehicles purchased or leased from approved participating retailers are eligible. If you purchased your vehicle before your retailer was approved in the program or if you did not purchase at a participating retailer, you can visit your electric utility’s website or search Additional Incentives because you may still be eligible for rewards. You can view additional CCFR program rules here. “The goal of the program is to accelerate the number of electric vehicles on California’s roads and highways,” said CARB Vice-Chair Sandy Berg. “The instant point-of-sale price reduction of up to $1,500 will help make these ultra-clean cars more affordable, especially for low-income families or those living in disadvantaged communities.” So far, more than 20 cars from 15 manufacturers are eligible for the reward including 2021 models eligible to receive the full $1,500. Moreover, the CCFR can be combined with existing post-sale federal, state and local incentives. These include the Clean Vehicle Rebate Project, Clean Cars 4 All, and the Clean Vehicle Assistance Program. Together that can potentially save you $10,000 on your EV purchase. It’s a good time to buy electric! PG&E’s EV Savings Calculator helps customers who are considering purchasing or leasing an EV to compare cars and evaluate total cost of ownership of an EV compared to gas-powered cars. The tool provides customers with a personalized recommendation that includes estimated costs, savings, and rebates or incentives of up to approximately $10,000. Additionally, the EV Savings Calculator allows customers to explore EV rate options available to them for residential charging and find public charging stations in their area. Since launching two years ago, the tool has helped more than 350,000 users calculate their savings. Make sure you check out our luxury EV car inventory.
